The Williamsburg Winery was awarded gold medals for their 2017 Petit Verdot Reserve and 2017 Barrel-Aged Virginia Claret at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest competition of North American wine in the world.
The 2017 Petit Verdot Reserve is characterized by flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, currant and cranberry with layers of cocoa, eucalyptus and vanilla. The 2017 Barrel-Aged Virginia Claret is a blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 29% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot and 8% Norton with notes of dark cherry, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and a hint of cocoa and baking spices.
The Williamsburg Winery received 11 medals total at the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition—two gold, four silver and five bronze. Over 65 judges representing various North American wine regions evaluated nearly 6,700 wines from over 1,000 wineries for the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
