We’ll bet a bushel you’ll have exactly zero things to be crabby about at The Tides Inn’s latest exciting event. The storied Chesapeake Bay resort in Irvington, Virginia, recently announced they’d be kicking off spring in waterfront style with their inaugural Crustacean Celebration, slated for Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24.

The weekend-long festivities include an interactive appearance by guest chef and live fire expert Eric Gephart of Kamado Joe Grills, who will welcome guests along with The Tides Inn Executive Chef Truman Jones for a gathering Friday night as well as cooking demonstrations dedicated to Chesapeake Bay blue crabs on Saturday afternoon.

The Friday evening event features a rosé-inspired “Pink Party,” a meet-and-greet reception in the resort’s new Chef’s Kitchen. Guests are encouraged to dress inspired by the theme and will get a chance to sample creative live cooked canapes, rosé and a signature cocktail.

The main event for the Crustacean Celebration weekend will take place on the resort’s picturesque shoreline Saturday afternoon. Attendees will get insider tips for preparing blue crabs and lobster tails as part of a hands-on “edutainment” experience.

Guests will also be treated to an assortment of tempting savory seafood dished featuring scallops, oysters, shrimp and much more. They’ll even be able to wash down those tasty eats with creative cocktails from The Tides Inn’s vintage bar cart, “Rosie,” including a Blue Crab Bloody Mary. Afterwards, they can stroll over to Fish Hawk Oyster Bar for “Tides After Hours” sweet treats and a night cap.

“This partnership with Kamado Joe is part of my vision to elevate the Tides Inn culinary programming through regional and local partnerships,” noted Tides Inn Executive Chef Truman Jones in a recent press release. “Crustacean Celebration is the first of many events in the pipeline that will put the Tides Inn on the map as a culinary destination in the Chesapeake Bay region.”

Tickets begin at $125 per person for the main event, and $50 each for the “Pink Party” and “Tides After Hours” events.
