Celebrate Spring with some of our favorite ephemeral wildflowers! Ephemeral wildflowers grow early in the season, often flowering and dying back to the ground before the trees leaf out. The Virginia Bluebell is a moisture loving ephemeral that grows in large numbers in low areas along the Shenandoah River.

10-12 Vernal Pool Walk and Talk – 2 mile hike on the Cottonwood trail to visit the vernal pools with Master Naturalist Hannah Bement. Meet at the Cottonwood trailhead.

1-3 Wildflower Bioblitz – Master Naturalist Denise Child will show you how to log flowers you find on a phone app and share the data you collect with Shenandoah River State Park. Meet at the Massanutten Shelter.

1-2 Guided Bluebell Hike – 2 mile out and back hike on the Bluebell trail with Master Naturalist Erin Gleeson to experience the Virginia Bluebell. Shelter 1.

2-3 Nature Journaling for Children – Let your young children experience nature and draw their findings. Shelter 1.
